Non-invasive medical technologies

Private medical centres
MedTel International
MedTel International operate ten scanning and day surgery centres across England and Wales, including open MRI.
Appointments can be booked on-line and all centres are linked by internet. Digital technology allows scans, reading and results to take place in different locations to suit patients and consultants and results are reported within 24 hours.
This provides prompt diagnosis and in some cases MedTel can provide a choice of immediate treatment options through day surgery at their centres.
MedTel offers Open MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive method of acquiring diagnostic images of the human body.
The basic technology of open MRI is similar to that of a traditional closed bore MRI but the magnet does not completely surround you and the imaging table has more space around your body.
Open MRI has several key advantages:
Open MRI avoids the claustrophobia of convential MRI scanners.
Large or obese people who cannot be scanned on conventional MRI scanners may be scanned with open MRI.
Open MRI can avoid the need for exploratory surgery. Some conditions require you to lie in particular positions which cannot be achieved within closed scanners. Open MRI may allow a non-invasive scan instead of surgery.
MedTel operates low field open MRI scanners in several UK centres and high field open MRI in Harley Street. Patients travel from across the UK and abroad to be scanned with the Philips Panorama Open Magnet MRI scanner in Harley Street. Scans are usually available at short notice and should be arranged directly with MedTel.
